ELE: Help with book title

Hello group,

My principal just came in, desperately looking for the title of a book.
The only things she knows about it are:  it was read aloud in the 4th
grade (not at our school), it's about on a 6th grade level, it has
characters called Captain "something"(don't know the name) and Doyle or
Doylie.  I can't come up with a thing.  Any one have any ideas?  Thanks
so much for your help!!!
