The Technology Director at my school sent a message to the two principals who will be shortly interviewing candidates for a middle school librarian position. He stressed that any candidate for the library post should have a good knowledge of Windows 95 Operating Systems as well as knowledge of how to configure this operating system as it would be very useful in providing in-library support. Am I in the Dark Ages? Should library candidates have this knowledge? I can operate a computer as good as the next person, and I can solve all the minor problems, but shouldn't configuring operating systems be the technician's baby? Even our technicians are stumped by some computer problems that occur. Am I wrong? Am I right? Please let me know.
