One of my teachers received a new workbook to go with the 9th grade world regions book. He is very happy. However, as I have discovered in the past, the work books are not very well done. Each section has the exact same activities as the section before. Right now the students are working on Australia and Oceania. They have been sent to the library to find the elevation of a list of mountains(the workbook even tells. them to go use reference books) One of the mountains listed is MANDALA. We have been through the encyclopedias, (index also), Atlases, CD-ROMs, Almanacs, etc and cannot find a mountain called Mandala (we do know that it is a Buddhist Symbol). #1. Does anyone have this information? #2. Why do publishers put out workbooks with questions and projects the students CANNOT FIND. I would be interested in responses from publishers as to how they check workbooks for factual information and DOABLE projects. Thanks for letting me vent. Deborah Stafford Gen H.H.
