TECH:Weird new folders??

Somehow, in the last 24 hours, about 6 new folders showed up on my
mailbox (MAC with Netscape)  Some of them say some letters with a .gif
afterward and some are words that relate to units I'm doing (hula)
(palm) - when I open them a message says "File no longer is use? yes?"
and I hit it.  (They appear empty)  then I go to delete the file and
the message says I can't delete folders without emptying it first?????
What should I do please - Weird!!!
