Pinching/St. Pat.'s Day

Yes there are people who have never heard of this!!  And here I thought my
son was just trying to get his sister in trouble.  I grew up in New Jersey
and have worked in NJ elementary schools for 20 years and never heard this.
 Thanks to those who wrote me to explain this interesting phenomenon.
