High School World Literature Reading Selections

An English teacher at my school is interested in expanding her current
outside reading lists.  She has a 12th grade World Literature class that
is required to do three outside readings during the semester. They are
allowed to read authors from everywhere except the United States and
Britain (they take Brit Lit as juniors). The students are not avid
readers and she is hoping to develop a stronger list of selections. Any
suggestions that you can provide would be most appreciated. Thank you.
