However, there are many ways of backing up data (tape system) that would have
given her a correct copy of the holdings, but does not make the LMS maintain a
card shelf list. The backup can be scheduled to be automatic, while
maintaining a shelf list can be time consuming and a chore.
Our tape backup runs each night, and all we have to do is remember to switch
tapes each morning. Also, if one day's copy is corrupted, there is a whole
week's worth of individual tapes to fall back on.
