While I read fiction (including "good" fiction), I much prefer nonfiction. Maybe it is the realist in me. But when a student doesn't care for fiction is there a good reason to force half his reading into that channel? We don't feel we are neglecting nonfiction if a student reads all fiction, do we? I find this an interesting mindset in our profession....
