library club

In September, I will be begining as a High School Library Media
Specialist.  It was recommended by a freind of mine who is a teacher to
start a Library Club.  I was wondering if I could get input/ opinions/
suggestions and personal experiences from the group?  How do you recruit
students?  What do you have them do?  How does it work out?  How do
administrators feel about the club or support the club?  Any comments
would be greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance.
