Target: EL books about the states

LM_NETters, my son's teacher from last year (gr. 4) received a grant to
build a collection of novels that take place in each of the 50 states.  She
is looking for elementary level reads, especially that difficult niche of
after picture but before full-blown chapter books.  If any of you have
suggestions, I'll pass them along to her.  Please include author, title,
reading level and state where the book takes place.  Contemporary and
historical fiction are both suitable.

I'm heading for a two-week vacation, so I'll look for your ideas when I
return.
