Colleagues:

The recent thread about communicating with the administration struck
a chord with me.

I've been providing my headmaster with monthly reports and copies of
all general communications for the past 10 years, and he appreciates
them. That doesn't change his opinion that a librarian really isn't
necessary.

For a 9-12 high school of 150-200 students our administration
consists of a full-time headmaster, a half-time Dean of
Students/Athletic Director, a 3/4 time Academic Dean/Counselor, a 3/4
time Director of Communications (with secretary), a 3/4 time Business
Manager (with secretary), and a full-time Director of Development.
We also have a full-time recruiter, but she is not considered
administration. When our technology committee talked about adding a
half-time Technology Director we were told that people are already
saying we have too many administrators and that a Techie would be
considered another administrator (yet the half-time librarian isn't
considered an administrator).

Well, I've accepted another position for next year, so I won't have
to be concerned with whether or not Saint Paul Lutheran High School
has too many or too few administrators, or whether a technology
director is really an administrator.
