Currently, I am an English teacher in a specialty high school for students who are interested in pursuing careers in the health/medical fields. We need someone to head up our new media center for next year. The construction of the room is not done yet, but when September comes, the room needs to be organized (i.e. furniture, AV equipment, computer stations, reference desk, etc.), materials need to be ordered, books have to be catalogued, etc. I have volunteered to be the media "specialist", but I am at a loss as to where to start. I have no library experience though I am well versed in different technologies and the research process. Does anyone have any suggestions of resources that I can use to educate myself about how to begin? Or does anyone have any advice for a new-comer? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
