I can't believe so many people are complainng about the proper usage of the word "Man". Has anyone taken the time to look this simple word up in a dictionary? I found it has over twenty meanings - the first being "an adult male person, as distinguished from from a boy or woman". BUT the next four definitions do not use it in reference to a male. They are: "an individual at the highest level of animal development characterized esp. by a highly developed brain and the ability to reason abstractly and form articulate speech", and "the human individual as representing the species; the human race; mankind", and "a human being; a person (usually used in contexts in which sexual distinctions are not relevant)", and finally "an individual; someone; one". Looking up the word "Woman" gives no such definitions. All of the definitions for "Woman" are used for a female. Quit looking at the word as having only one meaning which refers to males. It has multiple meanings - or don't we teach our students homonyms? Responses can be made directly to me - I think enough bandwidth has been wasted on this topic already.
