After returning to school after an extended weekend due to a death in the family, it was a bit nerve wracking to discover soon after I arrived that all of our computers had somehow kicked themselves off the network. But that was a fixable problem -- I even managed not to hyperventilate when 3 classes of students walked in for unplanned research. Not so "fixable," however, and even more nerve wracking was the memo left for me on my desk from the principal that read simply, "We have a book challenge! Please see me." The book is On the Devil's Court by Carl Deuker. The mother objects to the "soul selling to the devil" concept. This isn't a "maybe" challenge; it's begun. So, friends, any help you can send my way regarding this book, other challenges you may know of regarding it, or just some plain "been there, done that" advice or consolation would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks in advance.
