I'm posting this for a public librarian friend. Please send replies to me, and I'll post a hit (with names of senders included unless requested otherwise). Thanks for your help! Here's her question: Do you know of any good chat lines/rooms (whatever they're called!!) for younger children? My ten year old is pestering me constantly. I don't want her to simply sign on in a chat room. I'm looking for something with a bit more direction. For example: GirlZone is an excellent web site. One of the many things they offer are chat sessions. They are scheduled, however, and the topic is posted. One week the girls were invited to discuss the book and chat with the author of "Chicken Soup for the Teen-Age Soul" for example. Typically these chats are on Wednesday evenings and my daughter has church so has never been able to participate. Do you, or anyone you know have experience in this area and feel comfortable recommending a particular site?
