Needed: Info./Advice - how many different encyclopedia sets

Hello,

I'd like your opinion and help.

 How many different print encyclopedia sets should an elementary LMC
have? I  heard someone say, who was not in the library profession, that
one set was all LMCs should have. I'd like your opinion and would like
to know if there are any guidelines that I could use to support the
acquisition of more than one set.

World Book
Grolier's New Book of Knowledge
Children's Britanica
Grolier's New Student, etc.
