TARGET: Copyright & Scanners?

Subject: ELEM: Greetings via postcards wanted
I remember seeing this question posted earlier in the year, but I don't
remember seeing answers or a hit. My search in the archives and of the web
didn't turn up the answers that I need either. Now, the question has an impact
on my media center. I heard today that tech services is considering putting a
scanner in the media center for students to use in scanning pictures and
reference materials. I need information about policies in other libraries
which do or do not have scanners (and why or why not), especially relating to
copyright and fair use of scanned materials. Any help would be appreciated.
