I was so glad to read Karen DeFrank's post in the current thread on "Black National Anthem". I couldn't believe that I was the only one who was baffled and yes, annoyed, by the whole thing. We have _one_ national anthem, it is The Star Spangled Banner, and it is for _all_ Americans. We need to be accurate in how we use language and not call an item something it isn't. There is enough fracturing in this country without our contributing to it. I am sure that Lift Every Voice and Sing is a beautiful piece of music, but it is _not_ our national anthem. Thanks, Karen, for giving me the courage to vent!
