I was so glad to read Karen DeFrank's post in the current thread on "Black
National Anthem". I couldn't believe that I was the only one who was
baffled and yes, annoyed, by the whole thing. We have _one_ national
anthem, it is The Star Spangled Banner, and it is for _all_ Americans. We
need to be accurate in how we use language and not call an item something
it isn't. There is enough fracturing in this country without our
contributing to it. I am sure that Lift Every Voice and Sing is a beautiful
piece of music, but it is _not_ our national anthem. Thanks, Karen, for
giving me the courage to vent!
