I seem to be spinning my wheels trying to find this information in the archives, though I know it has been discussed. I will be compiling a list of recommendations for computer software (to be run on Windows 95) to be purchased for the Media Center in my K-5 school. My questions are: Are there programs which you have and find really being used? Does anyone have specific advice about CD encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases, or reference tools? What electronic encyclopedias do you find age appropriate and useful for 1-3 and 3-5? Do you feel that presentation software should be in the Media Center? (Our lab will have Hyperstudio and KidPix.) Does anyone have different versions of electronic encyclopedias in their Media Center? I will have approximately 8 stations. At first I was thinking of multiple copies of something like World Book. But now I am thinking that I should have a variety to offer. Any advice would be appreciated. I have looked at reviews comparing CD encyclopedias but would like some "in the trenches" input. Thanks!
