Hi, I was hoping to make it through my first year in this position without having my collection questioned, but it's not to be. I've been to the LM archives and the banned book site and ALA's site. The book in question is Peck's book, "A Day no pigs would die". We do have a policy in place, but it isn't to that point yet. My principal simply asked if I thought it was appropriate for 5/6th graders. I know it was on ALA's best book list for young adults. I've not had a chance to read it yet, I selected it based on the reviews. It seems to me a bit unrealistic to think that our collection should contain only books without swear words or two. Any advice would be appreciated.
