Books like Unknown Woman

A personal request.  Spring break is coming up, and I am seeking a
particular type of escapist reading.  If you have read _An Unknown Woman_
by Alice Koller, I am looking for another book of this type.  A quick
synopsis -- At a very difficult time in her life, Koller rents a small
house on Nantucket, where she spends three winter months soul-searching
and sorting out her life.  (On second thought, this doesn't sound very
escapist, does it?)

I have read the sequel, _Stations of Solitude_, _A New Kind of Country_ by
Dorothy Gilman, _The Earth House_ by Jeanne DuPrau ... (I guess it doesn't
have to be at the ocean ... perhaps a cabin in the woods ...).  I would
prefer that the main character be female, and the book be non-fiction, but
if you know of any similar titles that are terrific and don't fit that
description, please pass them along.
