Thanks to the folks who contributed ideas! --------------------- Well ... there's the one about the International Library of Ephemera, due to open in New York on April 1st ... of course, you better hurry, since it'll only be there for a week. -------------------------- Years ago, a student pulled a good one on me at Halloween. She had some life sized black ants that she placed in the stamp pad I used to stamp book cards. The black on black was really effective. I left them in there and when I picked a student to stamp it was fun to watch the reaction. With some I didn't say anything. With others I would say, "Be sure the ants don't get away" and they would open the pad gingerly. I've always wished I kept those ants to use again. --------------------------- Hi...A la Miss Nelson I came in one year dressed as my own sub... Called the secretary first thing in the morning that I was home ill, and that I had made arrangements for my sub. I came in wearing a long wig, loads of make-up, and dressed up in a very dressy outfit...so very unlike me! Also tried using a "southern" accent...I did fool some of the people...staff and students alike; in fact, some never knew it was me!!!!Though this was 5 yrs ago, people still talk about it. This year, I have a fake "nose" ring that I am planning on using. The next year, one of the third grade teachers told her students that it was a half day, rushed them through lunch, thoroughly confusing the lunchroom aides, and as soon as the entire class was all bundled up and ready to go home...she flipped off the lights...and said..."GOT YA!!" ------------------------------ Switch covers of books. :-) Issue fake overdue notices to staff/friendly students. Post "LIBRARY HAS TEMPORARILY MOVED TO (XXXXXXXX). PLEASE SEEK ASSISTANCE THERE." notice on closed door of library. Works best if there are no/few windows near door. --------------------------------------- My favorite April Fool is to put a Playboy cover on magazine shelves with Money magazine or the like inside and a label April Fool! Unfortunatley, kidsreactions to it keep me from getting work done. They all try to be subtle - I've had reactions from "really good Mrs Patterson" whispered in my ear to "Um-have you checked your magazines today?" from someone who wouldn't even take it off the shelf! --------------------------------------- Create a thick standardized Media Skills test using scrap paper, a blue sheet of cover paper and a title page that says in teeny tiny print April Fools. In a very serious voice tell the class that they must take this standardized test to pass to the next grade. Every student in that grade in the state is taking this test. Going on and on. Tell them no one can open the test (seal it with colored tabs) until a certain time. Build the suspense and then let them open the test! --------------------------------- Create the news by turning the camera up side down..... --------------------------------- Hope this gives you some ideas and some time to plan a super April Fools Day Kate Stirk, Media Specialist Annunciation Catholic Academy, Altamonte Springs, Florida/USA home: stirkk@juno.com school: stirkk@annunciationacademy.org =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= To quit LM_NET (or set NOMAIL or DIGEST), Send an email message to listserv@listserv.syr.edu In the message write EITHER: 1) SIGNOFF LM_NET 2) SET LM_NET NOMAIL or 3) SET LM_NET DIGEST * NOTE: Please allow time for confirmation from Listserv.
