Our county school system has been using the IBM SchoolView classroom computer management system to provide teachers with a GUI to manage matching up classes with software. We've had several problems this year with new labs (especially HS business labs) using IBM PC300GL computers for the student workstation. These PCs have Pentium processors and hard drives to provide a more responsive environment for MS Office than the Eduquest machines without hard drives we had used previously. Each school is running a LAN with an IBM server and Novell 3.12. The problem has been the computers locking up, to the point of needing a cold boot, at the rate of several in a 19-station lab every class. This occurs primarily in Windows applications but sometimes just logging in with the SchoolView login screen. Is this an isolated situation here, or are others experiencing similiar "challenges"? Or is this a unique combination of hardware and software nobody else uses? Please reply directly to me and I'll post a Hit in a week or so. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Jeff Cornelius,Computer Media Tech Augusta County (VA) Schools jcorneli@augusta.k12.va.us "I fixed it and it still works!" ------------------------------------------------------------------------ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= To quit LM_NET (or set NOMAIL or DIGEST), Send an email message to listserv@listserv.syr.edu In the message write EITHER: 1) SIGNOFF LM_NET 2) SET LM_NET NOMAIL or 3) SET LM_NET DIGEST * NOTE: Please allow time for confirmation from Listserv.
