GEN: Incident at Hawk's Hill

Dear LM_NET Folks,

My fourth-graders have been fascinated by the Newbery Honor book "Incident
at Hawk's Hill."  According to the book jacket  the novel was based upon a
true event.  Do any of you know the details of this event, or where I could
find them?  My students and I would love to know.  Many thanks!
