You Can Call my Worm by Dan Haas This book starts out as a story of two brothers, one called Worm because he ate a worm once. I thought it was cute but it built up after that! The two boys live with their divorced mother and they hear that their father has been sitting his roof for three days. They decide to go to him - it is a long trip (3 or four days of hiking.) They take off in the middle of the night and the tale becomes one of survival and adventure. On they way they talk about the father and the older brother tells Worm he should be put in an institution. They end up separating and getting to the father. The ending is great because everything is not neatly wrapped up and they live happily ever after. The book is 167 pages and is approachable by a 5th grader although they may not grasp all the talk about the father. It is a good book on many levels. *** Frederick Muller fmuller@planet.net Halsted Middle School Library (973) 383-7440 ext.228 59 Halsted Street FAX (973) 383-7432 Newton, NJ 07860 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= To quit LM_NET (or set NOMAIL or DIGEST), Send an email message to listserv@listserv.syr.edu In the message write EITHER: 1) SIGNOFF LM_NET 2) SET LM_NET NOMAIL or 3) SET LM_NET DIGEST * NOTE: Please allow time for confirmation from Listserv.
