Hi all! I am just finishing up my first year and need some end of the year advice. I've been so busy with budget, teaching, ordering, etc., that I didn't really take into consideration what steps I needed to take in closing the facility. While final exams do not take place until June 3 and 4, seniors need to have all school accounts cleared by May 11 to receive their cap and gown. The previous librarian would shut down the library two weeks prior to the end of school for inventory. My questions are these: When would be an appropriate time to shut down the library? How and when should I notify students and staff? When would should all books be returned? How do I notify seniors about materials being returned and fines? How do I notify other students about returning materials? Is there anything else I should be aware of when closing down the library for the year? I have already generated a list of students who have materials checked out and fines. I will also be in the library most of the summer. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
