Karen and LM_Netters, I read Anna Quindlen's Black and Blue (Oprah's selection) and found it riveting. However, I must admit that I also found it to be depressing. I have enjoyed all of Anna Quindlen's books and I've read many of the Oprah selections. I'm curious as to how Oprah makes her selections. When she first started, I was under the impression that she was trying to give unknown authors a boost (along with promoting reading). For example, her choice of "She's Come Undone" by Wally Lamb was excellent because that book had been well reviewed, however, it was not a popular title. Recently I've noticed that she has been choosing books by more well-known authors. I personally think that it would be great if she gave more "unknowns" a chance. What do you think?
