Thank you very much to everyone who e-mail me ideas for
comparing different versions of Cinderella.  Following
are items that could be compared, some suggestions for
different versions of Cinderella, and also a few
websites with lesson plans.
I apologize for the late post of this hit.  I know I
don't have to explain to you all how hectic life can
be!  Thanks again!

COMPARE:
characters (main, villian, step siblings, fairy
godmother type, etc)
compare the main character--name--birth order
Cinderella's name
who had Magical powers
what happened to sisters
what happened to Cinderella
setting
character's predicament
who's considered mean/evil
compare titles
is there a 'Prince Charming" in each one who takes
Cinderella away?
the shoes- what they look like - gold, straw, glass,
rose gold & leather
endings- what happens to  dear step mom or sisters
how Cinderella looks- hair color etc
the magical godmother-  a fish,  falcon, etc.;
compare the stepsisters' treatment of Cinderella and
her treatment of them at story's end
compare the endings, does the step mother and sisters
live or die or come to the castle?
compare the Cinderellas, are they all the same type of
person?
does the story teach the same lesson in each version?
compare language, illustrations, poverty levels.
the work she has to do
the elements of a fairy tale
once upon a time/happily ever after
use of royalty
use of numbers 3 or 7
good characters, evil characters
how does good win out over evil?
magical  object or character

LESSON IDEAS:
Keep a globe handy to show the various country versions
and ask kids
how the story travelled and changes native to that
particular country
Concluding activity: We wrote a Cindrella
story which takes place in Texas in 1800s.
