Thanks everyone for your suggestions! Here's what we came up with: Be sure to check the Jan Brett website...here's a page about trolls from this site http://www.janbrett.com/trolls_newsnotes2.htm Here is a site from Norway about the history of trolls http://hotell.nextel.no/sns/trolhist.htm megschimme@fn.net I used to do a unit on trolls years ago (like before internet) and have some great books. There's D'Aulaire's Trolls of course. I also have a book I love called Tim and Trisha (illus by Svend Otto S). Another book called In the troll wood by John Bauer had lots of good troll stories and fine spooky illustrations. I also have The Troll book by Michael Berenstain. Of course there's Three Billy Goats Gruff. (I have fun reading it in Swedish--the kids can always understand what story it is). I remember getting a movie from our ESD on Norwegian Trolls but don't remember the name. I'm sure there are new things available. Carol Harma, Thurston Elem, Springfield, OR charma@efn.org Ruth Manning-Sanders, A Book of Ogres and Trolls E.P. Dutton, 1972 -- all stories about them. Books of stories from Scandinavia will have troll stories, since they are part of the folklore from that part of the world.
