A teacher at my school asked if I had heard the story (urban legend?) about a big city--she thinks Boston--where every December an anonymous donor drops one or several rare & valuable gold coins in a Salvation Army kettle. This has supposedly been going on for a number of years and they still do not know the identity of the donor. She wants facts to back up the story. It does sound familiar to me but I cannot remember where or when I heard it most recently. Any tips on verifying or debunking?
