This is a very short HIT to add to the other 2 I sent a couple days ago. This is the one I mentioned that had not arrived yet. I apologize for the delay. I hope this method helps you as well. I receive a total of 50 periodicals, each periodical is given its own unique code, (i.e. American Visions = 2, Biology Digest = 6, Time = 63 etc.) When the monthly, weekly, etc. issue arrives; in the lower left hand corner place a label with the name of the periodical, the date of the issue and the barcode. The barcode is made up of the code assigned to the periodical, plus the number of the month, two zeros if it is a monhtly, and the year. If it is a weekly used the code assigned plus the complete date. Ex. American Visions - September 1998 - This is a monthly - 02090098. Biology Digest - October 1998 = This is a montly - 06100098. Time Magazine - October 5, 1998 = This is a weekly - 63100598. 63 = magazine code 10 = October is the 10th month 05 = the 5th day of the month 98 = the year. By using this method, you have already assigned the periodical its own unique barcode and when students want to borrow all you have to do is go to easy entry and add. I hope this helps, let me know what you think. That's all, folks!
