Sachar, Louis._Holes._1998 This is not your typical Sachar book. In it a boy is falsely accused and convicted of a crime. He is sent to a work camp in desert where the boys have to dig holes all day long. We later find out the warden is looking for a treasure. Two boys escape, have to survive in the desert, come back and find the treasure. They eventually get released from this work camp by a strange series of events. This is a strange book. I purchased this 233 page book because it was on a list of possible Newbery books for this year. I hope not! *** Frederick Muller fmuller@planet.net Halsted Middle School Library (973) 383-7440 ext.228 59 Halsted Street FAX (973) 383-7432 Newton, NJ 07860 ----- My book reviews are compiled at http://www.halsted.org/br.htm My personal site is at http://www.planet.net/pfmuller =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= To quit LM_NET (or set-reset NOMAIL or DIGEST), Send email to listserv@listserv.syr.edu In the message write EITHER: 1) SIGNOFF LM_NET 2) SET LM_NET NOMAIL or 3) SET LM_NET DIGEST 3) SET LM_NET MAIL * Please allow for confirmation from Listserv For LM_NET Help & Archives see: http://ericir.syr.edu/lm_net/ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=
