LM_NET smarties,
I was just sent this question by a friend, and I would love to supply them
with an answer...anyone know what it might be? It's just a little fun to
stretch our brains.
Below is a copy of the question that was posed:

"Because, friends and family, you are all so intelligent and worldly :), we
have a question for you.  We were watching "Futurama" last night on TV, and
they used a huge magnet to lift people off the face of the moon (I guess you
had to see it!).  One of us (I won't mention any names until we get the
answer) said that the magnet would not work because magnets are polarized and
depend on the magnetic field on the earth to work.  Therefore, they would not
work in space.  The other one thought that was a bunch of hooey. "
