OOPS, My first posting had no subject line. Mea culpa. Greetings, I've been following this thread for a week (or more) and keep saying to myself, why prolong it by posting at such a late date. But seeing all the "Johnny and janey come lately's" I've decided that I just have to share too. (I'm like the little kid who is last to raise his/her hand in class, I guess.) My favorites were the Edward Eager magical stories (Half Magic, something with thyme in the title...), Children of Green Knowe, Narnia, From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, Miss Pickerell, Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle (however didactic), the Mushroom Planet books by Eleanor Cameron, A Wrinkle in Time and oh, does anyone remember "realistic" fiction about Cathy who always seemed to come to dinner in a freshly ironed white blouse?
