The post asking whether or not to leave laser printers on made me wonder
about our computers. We have 17 Compaq Presarios which are set for screen
saver after 5 minutes and screen off after 10 minutes. I completely shut
them down on weekends, etc., but I have just been leaving them on overnight
on the advice of our tech. coordinator. Often, though, in the mornings
some of the screens are (still?) on, with no screen saver. I've tried using
the shutdown command from the start menu without actually shutting them off
with their switches (seemingly, "putting them to sleep"), but when I do that
many of them are "awake" again in the morning! Would it be best to shut
them down completely each night or should I just leave them on and not worry
about it? Please e-mail me directly. TIA!
