Does anyone know of an excellent online site to get help with cataloguing educational materials (as, Using Assessment for School Improvement, or lesson aids, or similar things)? LC does, of course, have a large database of these items, but seems to be hit and miss for this kind of topic. They probably do have some guidelines which limit what they are to catalog, but sure would be nice. While I'm on the subject, don't you just wish that educational groups who supposedly are in support of libraries (N.A.S.S.P., N.M.S.A., etc.) would provide a CIP within their publications? And, British publications feature the wonderful statement that cataloguing is available from the British Library while the exact same material from the same publisher but published in the North America will contain the cataloguing information. Have any of you tried to use the British Library site? It's a nightmare or epic proportions. And, why can not textbook, lesson aid, and other publishers not take time for CIP? With the growing tendency to have school libraries as resource centers for all types of materials, it seems to make sense to me. And, why can we not access the cataloguing of some materials that have LC control numbers, huh? Oh well, I guess my cataloguing better anyway. :0) Earl Earl Sande Secondary School Librarian International School of Tanganyika Post Office Box 2651 Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (e-mail : sandes@wilken-dsm.com) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
