Greetings all! I am a first year LMS taking over the management of a Media Center in a public elementary school in Florida. The school is 8 years old. We have approx. 850 children starting school tomorrow. During the past four years, the previous incumbent focused primarily on bringing technology into the school. Prior to that, the Media Clerk ran the show for two years without a professional in the Media Center. As a result, the collection has been sorely neglected. I just don't know where to start! The previous LMS just converted the library's records to Alexandria on a Mac G3, so we are somewhat automated (at least for check out!) Any suggestions about where you would start if you were in my situation would be greatly appreciated. Any useful sites, guidelines, or references about collection development standards for elementary schools collections, etc. would be very helpful!
