Last spring we did a trial run for a book discussion club at the request of the students. We will continue it this year hoping to meet once every month or two. The students are in grades 9-12 (the incoming 9th graders are fairly good readers) and it is voluntary meeting after school for 30-45 minutes. I have racked my brain for a title that would be a grabber to begin the year. It could be funny, mystery, etc.--genre doesn't matter. I would like one that would appeal to both boys and girls and not too controversial for now. The previous participants were really into science fiction/fantasy and have agreed that we need to diversify to attract more students. If you have any suggestions I would be eternally grateful! :-) Thanks to you all--I will post a hit.
