I have been a lurker up until now but thought I would take the = opportunity today to change that and also ask for help regarding this = debate. I have looked in the archives but could not locate any recent = material. =20 We are a New Zealand secondary school (Yr 9 -13) of approximately 850 = students. A number of staff in the school are not computer literate. = The school is planning to move towards de-centralising its computers. = Currently it has 2 PC Labs and 1 Mac Lab as well as 1 or 2 computers in = some classrooms. The plan over the next 2 or 3 years is to break up the = labs into small pods of computers (up to 6) and distribute these around = the school. In addition there would be more computers in the classroom. = =20 I would really like to know what others experience is of de-centralising = computers and the general pros and cons etc. I know this is somewhat of an old debate but it would be good for us to = know how those who have de-centralised have found it.
