My assistant principal is going back into the classroom after 30 years (!) and will be teaching social studies to 6th graders. He is looking for fiction titles set in Great Britain that would give the students a "flavor of those countries". No specific time in history, but he wants something that talks about the countryside, what life is like, etc. As best I can tell, there is nothing in the archives that covers this. Any suggestions? He thought of Tale of Two Cities, but thought it might be a little too difficult for 6th graders. Thanks for any help.
