I was asked by several people to post a hit. Thank you to all who
responded!

My original request was:

I am planning on reading a picture book to the whole school K-6 on the first
day of school (Sept.8). I'll do this in the all-purpose-room, projecting the
illustrations onto a screen. I thought it would be a great way to start off
the school year and get the kids excited about the library this year.

I was going to read Thank you, Mr. Falker by Patricia Polacco, but now that
I am reading it again, I am thinking that it might be too "heavy" for the
first day. Does anyone have any suggestions for a short read-aloud picture
book to read to K-6 students to start off the year on the right foot?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Here are the suggestions:

Library Lil
Double Trouble in Walla Walla by Andrew Clements
Library Dragon
The librarian from the black lagoon by Mike Thaler
Oh, How I wished I could read! by John Gile
David goes to school
Dear Children of the Earth
