Netters: Our Language Arts (committee chairperson) teacher asked me yesterday for recommendations and/or sources for "thematic" dictionaries. We looked through the World Almanac catalog and didn't see any that fit that description. The request came from our middle school teachers who wanted a dictionary (print, not electronic) with in-depth descriptions, particularly in historical areas. (Personally, it sounds like they want an encyclopedia, but in one volume!) Any suggestions/recommendations? Thanks!
