TARGET: Simple Costume Ideas for Classic Characters

Hello Everybody,
One of my first assignments as a new middle school LMS is to come up with
costume ideas for a faculty dress up day when we will dress as characters
from classic books. This is part of a week long "get into the classics"
event the school does each year. I need several suggestions for costumes
that would be easy (and inexpensive). Some of the ideas already on my list
are: wear overalls and a straw hat to go as Huck Finn; blue jeans, a white
T-shirt and slicked-back hair for Pony Boy Curtis from The Outsiders; robe
and slippers for Wendy from Peter Pan... etc.

I would really appreciate some more suggestions from my creative friends out
there- I will post a HIT if there's enough interest!
