Like Robert Otte, I also asked about Sports biographies for grades 7-9. =
My requirements included (a) at least 150 pages [a requirement from the =
teacher] and (b) a junior high reading level, i.e. not aimed at reluctant =
readers. As Robert indicated, publishers should take note, there is not =
much out there. That stated, here is my hit:

From Karen Lon: Still easy and only about 130 pages long is the series by =
Matt Christopher: "Sports Bio Bookshelf." Publisher is Little, Brown. =
[These are recommended for ages 9-12]

From Diane VanGorden: This is a list of biographies she plans to order =
for her 7-12 library next spring:
Ali: Journey of a Holy Man / 0312246536
Arthur Conan Doyle: Beyond Baker Street / 0195122623
The Dogfather: the Times, Trials and Hardcore Truths of Snoop Dogg / =
0688171583
Evel Knievel: American Hero / 0312243901
If Only (Geri Halliwell - Spice Girl) / 0385334753
Jeff Gordon: an Unauthorized Biography of the 3-time Winston Cup Champion =
/ 158063091X
The Life and Adventures of John Nicol, Mariner / 0871137550
The Long Program (Peggy Fleming) / 0671038869
In My Hands: Memories of a Holocaust Rescuer / 0679991816
Mary, Bloody Mary / 0152019065
Mythmaker: the Life and Works of George Lucas / 0380978334
Shannon Miller My Child My Hero / 0806131101

From Jean B. Bellavance: Chip Lovitt wrote an excellent biography of =
Michael Jordan a few years ago. It isn't part of a series as far as I =
know but it would be good for middle school readers. It is much more than =
statistics. [Recommended for ages 9-12].

That's it. I did spend some time surfing Amazon.com and came up with a =
short list but now I need to determine if these adult biographies are =
appropriate for junior high.
