I have also had to justify the purchase of WB when I have it and Encarta available on the district network. Besides the fact that print in a book is easier on the eye, we only have 7 computers and there are usually whole classes doing research. However my favorite point is that a print encyclopedia is quicker and easier to use that an electronic one. If the student misspells a search term, he often will not find the desired information. In a print encyclopedia he can visually scroll down the list in the index. Many children have a problem with exact spellings. They often have to resort to print encyclopedia indexes for correct spellings. Ther is a place for both print and electronic encyclopedias in our collections.
