                   LM_NET FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
                      Last updated: December 17, 1999
--------------------------------------------------------------------
This listing of questions frequently asked (and answered) on LM_NET has
been created in hope of reducing some of the repetition encountered by our
members. We post this list frequently and mark in the contents with an
asterisk(*) items updated that issue. Members may wish to save the FAQ for
quick reference. If you have recently posted a HIT about a topic and see
someone else ask the same question, please send a copy of your HIT to that
person and let us know so it can be added to the FAQ for the future. Due to
computer crash, I lost some personal email with suggestions last month.
Please resend all suggestions if not included. THANKS!

Retired FAQ's (including the words ending in "gry" may be visited at the
website http://ericir.syr.edu/lm_net/retiredfaqs.htm

               *****************************************
Barb Engvall recently posted this message: If you have Microsoft Word, you
have access to a Readability Package... just type in your passage (or scan
it if you have that capability) and run it through spell check. If you
don't get the redability forumula, you need to go to TOOLS - PREFERENCES -
click on SPELLING and GRAMMAR tab and make sure the SHOW READABILITY
STATISTICS box is checked. This program uses Flesch-Kincaid which is the
same one used by Accelerated Reader, thus making your own tests and giving
them accurate readability scores is easy.

                *****************************************
The devices you purchase to connect your computer screen to a TV (or other
video port such as VCR for taping) are called computer scan converters.
These are needed only if your computer does not come with the newer video
in/out ports. Some popular models have been discussed at length so
searching the archives will disclose products and opinions on TVAtor,
AverKey, IN-focus, Pocket Scan Converter, Scan-it and more. Do a search at
http://www.masteraudiovisuals.com or http://www.Google.com
