Hi Everyone!
This is my first time posting--have really enjoyed this listserv since
I joined a few weeks ago--helping me out a lot!!
I am a media specialist at a small private school (PK-12), taking over
the job in Nov. 1998. Before I was a Kindergarten teacher for many
years and I was lucky to get the opportunity to do this and really love
it. My school has no flexible scheduling and I have two (30 min.)
classes per week with each of the grades PK-6. And also 2 (45 min.)
classes per week with each 7th and 8th grade class. I enjoy the
different age range but I have a problem with 7th and 8th grades. I have
been teaching them research skills on the internet and some word
processing, along with the usual library skills. I am running out of
ideas! We have two online computers in the library but they seem so
slow and the kids get bored easily with trying to look up things. And
of course, they say they know how to do all the word processing!! :) I
need some new ideas on what to do with them for THAT much library
time!! Please send me any suggestions you may have!! I have heard of a
connection you can buy to connect the computer to a tv and be able to
show what you are doing on it so that all can see. What is this and how
much does it cost?? I am on a strict budget here!
Also,. one more question! We are a very outdated library and not
automated. To process a book, I use a dos program for the cards, a
label making program I created for the pockets and cards and then
usually type the spine labels on an old typewriter. This all takes up a
lot of time! I need a program that would do everything but not cost too
much!! Is there something anyone could suggest??
I know this is long but I really am frustrated over these two things!!

Thanks for listening!! And any help would be greatly appreciated!!
