TECH: 14 digit barcodes

I'm planning to automate 2 more schools this spring and eventually to union
cat all our schools, so I'm trying to think of ways to smooth their
interaction and reduce the headaches involved (not to mention any
re-barcoding of my mistakes!)

If you use 14 digit barcodes, with indicators to show whether the code is a
material or patron code, and to show location, please contact me. I tried
talking to the tech person about it on the phone, but it's really difficult
when you aren't able to try it out. Our system currently uses 8 digit
barcodes, and I think we will have to go to 14 eventually to be able to
keep materials straight at the various schools.
