This story is one of  the Jataka tales that the Buddha told as teaching
stories.  You can find it in collections of moon stories or in Indian story
collections -- of course, mine are at school, so I'll have to post again.  If
there's interest, I'll post the story as well.  It's an explaination of who
that is in the moon, as well as a lesson on how to treat each other with the
greatest respect.
