Hi everyone. I just wanted to share the URL for the transcript of my
keynote address at the Synergy 99 educational networking conference in
Augusta, Georgia 10 days ago:

http://edweb.gsn.org/synergy99/speech.html

The speech is entitled "Come Together, Right Now: Forging Educational
Communities on the Internet." In it I take a look at the importance of
educators to be active participants in professional development communities
with their colleagues. Research from Hank Becker's and Ronald
Anderson's recent Technology, Learning and Computing Study suggest that
teacher's classroom practices mimic their willingness to interact with
their colleagues: teachers who engage in collaborative, interactive
professional development are much more likely to have their students
engage in collaborative, interactive lessons than traditional teachers who
prefer traditional, lecture-oriented professional development.
Additionally, teachers who use collaborative, interactive techniques
(constructivist teaching) are much more likely to have their students use
the Internet than teachers who use traditional teaching methods, even when
Internet access is readily available.

Also, the accompanying slides can be found at

Hope you find it interesting....

thanks,

ac
